Plastic Film Accumulator

This project consisted in the development of a machine aimed at the accumulation of plastic film, for the fabrication of industrial bubble wrap. Three designs were established:

• The initial design was called 'horizontal accumulator' and it's composed of 8 aluminum rollers, driven by an electric motor coupled to a chain system. The rollers move by means of linear guides between positions of maximum and minumin spacing.

• The second design was an adpation of the first one, where we intended to replace the electric motor with pneumatic cylinders to analize the difference in performance.

• The third one was a redesign, in which the rollers where situated in a 'vertical' configuration to save space and attain a higher capacity of accumulation. In this last one, we utilized 18 rollers of different diameters (from 100 to 180mm).
